COVID-19: J&K records 2 more deaths as son, wife of Advisor to LG among 47 test positive | KNO

Srinagar, May 25 (KNO): Son and wife of J&K Lieutenant Governor’s Advisor besides a cop and a pregnant women were among 47 new cases that tested positive for the Covid-19 on Monday taking the total number of positive cases in the Union Territory to 1668. Officials told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), reveals that among new 47 cases that were detected in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday 10 were tested positive at CD hospital Srinagar, 25 at Army's command hospital Srinagar and rest at other private labs. Among 47 new cases, 14 belong to Kashmir division while as 33 are from Jammu division, officials said, adding that the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir  have reached to 1668 including 809 recoveries and 23 deaths "Cases tested positive in J&K include 5 from Anantnag, 3 from Kulgam,3 from Srinagar and one each from Shopian Kupwara and Pulwama in Kashmir division while as 33 from Jammu including 21 from Jammu district,4 from Kuthua, 2 each from Udhampur, Poonch and Reasi and one each from Ramban and Doda ," officials disclosed. Dr Salim Khan Nodal officer for Coronavirus at GMC Srinagar told KNO that out of 770 samples tested on Monday, 10 were found positive besides that reports of 160 samples are under process and over 200 samples were received today. "The 10 positive patients include a 31 year old pregnant lady from Bemina Srinagar, 30 year old male from Bemina Srinagar, 36 year old female from Sogam Kokernag, 31 year male from Chatranjee Kokernag,  26 year old female from Hillar Kokernag, 26 year old male from Larnoo Kokernag, 28 year old female from Tral Pulwama, 55 year old female from Shalgam Bijbehara, 50 year old male from Chitragam Shopian and 65 year old lagy from Bugam Kulgam who was tested positive on Monday and had died two days before," He said. Officials from Anantnag said that one among the positive case is a policeman who has performed duty in Red zone Kharpora. Lt Col Inam Danish Khan from Army's Command Hospital Udhampur said that 34 travellers and Labourers were tested positive for novel Coronavirus at the hospital. He said that 34 cases include 12 travellers and 17 labourers from Ramban and 5 labourers from Reasi. Pertinently, among the new positive cases were wife and son of Advisor to LG Governor after which he was placed under quarantine. Officials said that advisor's wife is a doctor in Delhi and it is believed that she may have catched the virus while on duty and her son may have transmitted it from his mother. They said that both mother and son were tested immediately on arrival to Jammu and were placed under quarantine as per protocol. “Both are asymptomatic and are undergoing treatment at a hospital in Katra area of Reasi district of Jammu,” the officials said. “Advisor is doing fine with no symptoms at all and will be tested soon.” Meanwhile, two more deaths were reported due to covid-19 in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, taking the overall death toll in Union Territory to 23 on Monday. An official said that an Income Tax lawyer from Jammu, who died on Sunday morning in a hospital in winter capital, has been tested positive for Coronavirus. A resident of Trikuta Nagar area of Jammu, the lawyer was undergoing treatment for some other ailments in ASCOMS Batra hospital of Jammu where he breathed his last on Sunday morning. "After his death, sample for Coronavirus were taken, the report of which was declared  positive on Sunday evening," official sources within health department said. They added that administration has followed Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) following his death and his active contacts have been kept under close monitoring. Meanwhile, Dr Salim Khan Nodal officer for covid-19 at GMC Srinagar said that a 65 year old lady from Bugam, Kulgam was admitted in SMHS Hospital Srinagar on 22-5-2020 with Bilateral pneumonia. She died next day and her body was kept in mortuary of GMC Srinagar. He added that her reports came positive for covid-19 on Monday. The fresh deaths in Jammu and Kashmir has taken the total death toll across the Union Territory up to 23. As per officials figures 278 positive cases including four deaths and 109 recoveries are from Anantnag, 227 including three deaths and 15 recoveries are from Kulgam, 182 including six deaths and 125 recoveries are from Srinagar, 139 including one death and 129 recoveries are from Bandipora, 137 including 98 recoveries and four deaths are from Baramulla, 129 including 107 recoveries are from Shopian, 165 including 70 recoveries are from Kupwara, 64 including 47 recoveries and two deaths are from Budgam, 27 including 24 recoveries are from Ganderbal and 26 including 10 recoveries are from Pulwama. In Jammu division, 99 including 34 recoveries and two deaths are from Jammu district, 49 including 06 recoveries are from Kathua, 37 including 21 recoveries and one death are from Udhampur, 45 including 01 recovery is from Ramban, 27 including 07 recoveries from Samba, 13 including 04 recoveries are from Rajouri, 08 including 01 recovery is from Kishtwar, 08 with no recovery from Poonch, 06 including 01 recover is from Reasi and 02 from Doda—(KNO)
